Directors Statement

 

While making Candela! it gave me the oppotunity to improve my set lighting skills while at the same time explore something that was very interesting to me. As of late more and more young people are relying on technology to communicate, and they are stepping away from physical conversations with one another. This to me is a very disturbing thing indeed. 

 

once I hade the premise of my film decided, it was time to focus on the script and character developement. For me this was very difficult as, to enphasise my characters reliance on technology, I wanted them to use 'online phrases' such as 'hashtag' and 'LOL'. This posed a problems as I tend to avoid such people and therefore had no one that I could base my characters from, however I persisted. and after many draft copies, re-writes and reviews. I feel that I developed both the characters and the script to a high level. 

 

The cast and crew that I worked with were excellent, the crew were good friends of mine and I knew that we could work well together to a proffesional level. The actress that I brought in was extremely good, and played her part well. i would be honoured to work with such people again.
