Portfolio of work

Below is a set of films that I have worked on over the past 5 years, from installation peices to documentaries, my exeriences as a director cover a wide variety of different forms of media. What I have learned over the past few years is that good chemistry with the crew is key, there must be mutual respect amongst all crew members as well as passion for the project at hand.

The main skills that I have developed while performing the director role are listening, leadership, communication and organization. This skils have been honed and utilized more and more with each project. During each shoot I always try and keep morale high by dealing with any problems immidiately and efficiently, this I feel helps the crew work better as a unite, and portrays proffesionalism to the actors.

VEE

One of the more complicated peices of works I directed, due to both its length, and its premise.

This short film is based on three peoples journey to a singular point in time and space. On this occasion, A small pub on a sunny saturday morning. Each person has their own journey and their own crisis' that they need to deal with, and while they all meet in this single pub. They could not be more different from one another.

37 COLOURS OF MAY

This is an instalation peice I designed around 3 years. It is supposed to explore the colours and emotions of a persons mind while at the same time being a great peice of moving art. While the production of the prodject was moderately simple, the editing phase was a long and tiresom journey.

The beeping noise at the end is morse code for 37 COLOURS OF MAY.

BBFC DOCUMENTARY

This is a documentary on th current state and guidlines of the British Board of Film Classification.

It was directed and presented by myself, and I assisted with the editing. What I like about directing documentaries is the amount of research that need to go into them. You are more than likely going to learn something new, and making a film about it is a great way to remember that knoledge.

HAPPY HAPPY HAP

This is a childrens television show that was filmed live, and it was by far one of the most difficult yet rewarding films I have ever made.

The premise of this is that it is an 'easter special' edition of a long runnning childrens television show presented by Tom and Bex. It was a group project of about 8 and while I did volunteer for the position of director, I had no idea just how big of a projec this was. Filming live is very different from being able to reshoot any scenes or edit out mistakes in the edit suite. But I can happily say that seeing the final project ws incredibly rewarding and I was very proud of all the crew that I worked with.
